Flexibility and the Art of Changing Habits

Flexability

Change is inevitable. It can be difficult, but it is also an opportunity for growth. When we are flexible, we are better able to adapt to change and make the most of it. When we are going for a health quest, we know we must change, and change is hard and difficult because we must leave the comfort zone and step into uncharted sections of our being. Flexibility is there to the rescue. , flexibility is key to making positive changes stick.
Flexibility is one of the important components of emotional intelligence. People who are more flexible have higher emotional intelligence because they can manage uncertainty better.

“Freedom and happiness are found in the flexibility and ease with which we move through change.”

— Buddha

Benefits of flexibility

There are many benefits to being flexible when making changes. Being flexible can help us,

Stay motivated: When we’re flexible, we’re more likely to stick with our goals, even when things get tough.

Avoid burnout: When we’re too rigid, we can easily get burned out. Being flexible allows us to take breaks and recharge when we need to.

Be more successful: Studies have shown that people who are flexible are more likely to be successful in their personal and professional lives.

It is very simple. Flexible people are:

More successful in their careers.

Have better relationships.

Are happier and healthier.

When you’re trying to make a change, it’s important to be flexible with your expectations. . If you’re too rigid with your diet, you’re more likely to give up.  Don’t expect to change everything overnight.  Instead, focus on making small, gradual changes that you can sustain over time.

When we talk health and eating habits, just cut process foods or make a commitment to cooking at home from raw food once a week. Gradual is the name of the game when we want to swap from one habit to another.

It’s also important to be flexible with your approach. If one method of change isn’t working for you, don’t be afraid to try something else. There are many different ways to achieve your goals, so find one that works for you and stick with it. It is very important to listen to your body and follow its signals. If cheese doesn’t make you feel good, swap it with something the does.

Remember, rigid is the opposite of flexibility so don’t be too hash on yourself when you are carving for something that is not part of your eating plan. Don’t deny yourself of food you feel you can’t live without.  Eat it, just make sure you go back to your routine straight after.  Being flexible with yourself also mean, be kind to yourself.

Stay away from people who are rigid with themselves or with you because they won’t allow the change to happen. Rigid people around us, throws us into the primitive brain and we feel very stressed around them.( and eat more and reverse back to our old habits). As much as possible, find a supportive and kind people, they will help you stay on track.

Create a variety in your food. This will also help you explore different kinds of food, and your gut bacteria will be happy too. Some people eat the same food for months, that’s not being flexible and not helping your body adjust to different foods and different habits.
If you are craving for food that is not so healthy for you, find swaps. There are millions of swaps recipes online. Just search your favourite food and write low carb version and you’ll find plenty of options.

Experiment.  Experimenting requires courage and flexibility.  When you are flexible you are open to new ideas and experiences. It helps you get over the fear of trying new things and taking risks. Yes, it’ll lead to new challenges but also new opportunities to grow and learn.

Changing eating habits helps us  break old patterns and create new ones. Here are some things to consider that will help you with creating this change.

Step by step you can do amazing things.

Be prepared for setbacks. There will be times when you slip up and eat something that you shouldn’t. Don’t let this discourage you. Just pick yourself up and start again.

Be prepared for social situations. It can be tough to stick to your diet when you’re out with friends or family. Have a plan in place for what you’re going to eat.

Don’t give up. It takes time to make lasting changes. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results immediately. Just keep at it and you will eventually reach your goals.

Remember, flexibility is key.
