Your Body, Your Rules: You Are 100% Statistics
Let’s start with a truth most people miss completely: You are 100% statistic. Not 2%. Not an outlier. Not “an exception.” When something happens to you, it’s not an anecdote. It’s your truth. In the grand experiment of your life, you are both the researcher and the subject, and whatever you find in your personal lab is 100% valid.
In other words, you are 100% statistic—because your experience is complete, whole, and absolutely enough to justify change.
My Introduction to Low Carb, Whole Food Living
I first learned about the ketogenic diet over 35 years ago while studying special education. It was introduced to us not as a weight-loss tool, but as a medical treatment for epilepsy. Developed in 1924 by Dr. Russell Wilder at the Mayo Clinic, the ketogenic diet was a way to stabilize the brain. Let that sink in—a diet designed to help the brain function better.
As part of our work, we supported children and adults with emotional, behavioural, and cognitive challenges. And food played a huge part in how they felt and functioned. It still does.
Fast forward decades later, and this same eating approach—low carb, high fat, whole food nutrition—has become my cornerstone for wellness, personally and professionally.
But Here’s What Baffles Me…
Despite witnessing with my own eyes how powerful this lifestyle is, people still try to tell me it’s not “statistically significant.” They tell me the stories I share of reversing diabetes, improving MS symptoms, reducing inflammation, or even helping my mother recover from Alzheimer’s… are just anomalies.
Here’s what I want to say back, loudly and clearly:
I am not the exception. I am the experiment.
And because it happened to me, it’s 100% real. I am 100% statistics.
“You are the only lab rat, you are the researcher, and your body is the laboratory.”

A Personal Story: When Iron Told Me Who I Was
When I was young, routine blood tests revealed that my iron levels were low. Very low. Dangerously low, according to my doctor. He couldn’t believe I could even get out of bed.
But there I was—running around like an energizer bunny. Full of energy. Laughing, moving, thinking. I wasn’t tired. I wasn’t pale. I felt fine.
Still, the numbers scared everyone. So, I was prescribed iron tablets. These pills did nothing for my iron, but they did a number on my gut. Chronic constipation followed me like a shadow for years.
Let me ask you: What was worse—low iron levels with no symptoms, or decades of gut pain and dysfunction caused by fixing something that wasn’t broken?
I was treated like a statistic—but not as my own statistic. That was the problem.
When I Took Back Control
Years later, when I shifted to eating real food and not mixing carbs and proteins, my iron levels balanced on their own. In fact, during all four of my pregnancies, my iron levels were stable. My doctors were amazed.
But even then, some of them still tried to convince me to take iron supplements “just in case.” Because statistically, most pregnant women experience a dip in iron.
But not me. Not this body. Not this lab.
Why? Because by then, I had become my own research institute. I observed. I adjusted. I recorded. And most importantly, I trusted myself.
Even today, it is upsetting for me to meet friends and family members who started taking medication for their thyroid 30 years ago with no symptoms whatsoever but only because the number on the blood test was outside the “recommended” scale. No one, for over 30 years asked them how they feel? If they even have symptoms, they were simply a number on the statistic chart.
Why You Are 100% Statistic (And Not Just a Number in a Study)
We get so wrapped up in research papers, expert opinions, population data, and “what works for most people.” But when it comes to your body, the only person who matters is you.
You are not 2% of a sample group.
You are not a blip on a spreadsheet.
You are 100% statistic.
Your experience is complete. What works for you, works. What doesn’t, doesn’t! . And when something in your body changes for the better, don’t let anyone call it luck or coincidence or placebo.
You experimented. You observed. You succeeded.
That’s science.
The Body as a Laboratory: The Research Method That Works
When I work with clients, I always ask them to become scientists in their own lives. Not by running blood panels or DNA tests (though they can be helpful), but by tuning into the most accurate data source we have—our own bodies.
Here’s how:
- Track your food — not obsessively, but curiously.
- Note your energy levels. When do you feel alert? When do you crash?
- Record your mood. Which foods or routines bring peace? Which cause chaos?
- Monitor sleep. How fast do you fall asleep? How refreshed do you feel?
- Observe digestion, skin, cravings, mental focus, and so on.
This is real-time, high-resolution data. And you don’t need a lab coat to do it.
“We track so many things in life—our money, our steps, our to-do lists. But we forget to track what actually runs our health: our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs.”

I Helped My Mother with Alzheimer’s by Using This Method
One of the most powerful stories I can share is that of my own mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s for 18 years. She couldn’t speak, didn’t recognize me, and was trapped in a fog that no medication could lift. ( Well, Ok, most of it was caused by medications)
But after just four days of recording, making food changes, tracking her reactions and getting rid of some of her medication ( Thank God, Her Geriatric was on board, and he simply told us to get rid of all of them) —I started to see a shift. Her eyes became brighter. Her focus returned. Eventually, she started speaking again and even today, three and half years later, is able to do things she could not do 18 years ago.
She was my lab rat, and I was her researcher. But my tools were simple: food, observation, trials, love, and curiosity.
If I could help someone with severe cognitive decline make progress in just four days, imagine what you can do with yourself, when you are both the subject and the scientist.
Don’t Argue with Your Own Data
So many people spend time arguing with reality:
“But the study says…”
“My friend lost weight eating this…”
“I read online that it’s supposed to help…”
If your body tells you otherwise—listen.
If berries give you a rash, it doesn’t matter that they’re considered “superfoods.”
If fasting gives you clarity, it doesn’t matter that your aunt says it’s dangerous.
If fat makes you feel energized, it doesn’t matter if your cousin still believes it clogs arteries.
You are 100% statistic. You are your own truth.
Why Statistics Can Be Misleading
Even in the best-designed studies, some people don’t respond well to what works for the majority. That’s why even a “statistically significant” result might apply to only 51% of participants.
That means 49%—nearly half—didn’t get the result.
That means you might be in that 49%. Or in the magical 1%. Or in your own 100%.
When you rely only on external evidence to guide your choices, you risk missing the evidence inside you. You end up chasing other people’s results instead of creating your own.
The worse part is that most people when realizing they are not part of the majority, they lose hope and confidence, believe something is wrong in their body and that in itself can increase their cortisol level ( the stress hormone) that creates havoc in their body and mind.
You Are the Researcher and the Lab Rat
This is your experiment. Your body is your lab. You are the one conducting the trials, collecting the evidence, and writing the conclusions.
It’s empowering.
And once you accept that, you’ll stop outsourcing your decisions. You’ll trust your intuition, your sensations, your energy. You’ll stop measuring yourself against charts and norms and instead measure against your own progress.
A Tool You Can Use Right Now
If you want to make fast, meaningful progress, start tracking your day like a real scientist. For just one week, record:
- What you eat (and how much)
- What you drink
- When you eat and drink
- Your sleep quality and duration
- Your mood and stress level
- Your physical energy
- Your digestion
- Your weight and body measurements
Just one week. The insights will amaze you.
My clients often uncover hidden patterns in three days. Imagine what you’ll learn in seven.
