How to build a SALAD

(Credit:Deb Finucan, WFR) Salads are easy, ever changing and you can build according to your own food preferences or as an enhancement for the style of food you are serving on the day Select your salad bowl size. For added flavor rub the inside of the bowl with the cut side of a garlic clove and then start to build! Start your bowl with some greens 🥬 🥬 It’s best to just layer each vegetable on top and not mix the salad through (the heavier vegetables will sink to the bottom). As the guests take their portion it will mix itself 4 LEAF SALAD MIX 🥬 Add a different texture: green capsicum, sprouts, shallots, celery, sliced mushrooms, beans 🥬 Add some colour: tomatoes, red/yellow capsicum, shredded carrots 🥬 Add some crunch: mung bean mix, nuts, dry fried noodles 🥬 Add some fat: Avocado, Feta cheese 🥬 Toppings: Red onion rings, alfalfa sprouts 🥬 Dressings: drizzle the oil of the feta, olive oil, salt, dash of apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar BABY SPINACH 🥬 Add a different texture: other green lettuce 🥬 Add some color: roast pumpkin, cherry tomatoes 🥬 Add some crunch: pine nuts, slithered almonds, olives 🥬 Add some fat: feta/cheddar cheese, bacon pieces 🥬 Toppings: red onion rings, alfalfa sprouts 🥬 Dressings: sweeter dressing works best KALE 🥬 Add a different texture: always ‘massage’ the kale with olive oil and salt before you add other veggies. 🥬 Steamed asparagus, beans 🥬 Add some color: kale doesn’t always need extra color.
